Buying a used car has been essentially the same for 75 years: what’s the mileage, what’s the vehicle history, get a mechanic to check out the moving parts and haggle over the price. As electric cars hit the used market in real numbers for the first time, Scott Case recognized the opportunity to modernize the buying process to reflect fundamental differences in consumer buying behaviors for electric vehicles. Scott partnered with PSL to validate the idea, build the initial product to show customers their estimated battery life, and hone the business model. Scott worked with PSL to recruit co-founding CTO Kyle Rippey, who has never met a marketplace business he wasn't keen to disrupt (dog walking, legal services, real estate, and now automobiles).
